BLOOM OUTDOORS came about through my own personal story… going through life’s stages, my personal struggles and finding my balance in nature’s outdoors. I personally “bloomed” as a person through personal growth, balance and enlightenment connecting with nature… and I am thankful for expanding my passions through my travels, activities and interests I have gained experiencing all the wonders of the outdoors. Bloom Outdoors is my way of sharing my story, my experiences and my adventures with the hopes of bringing awareness to others who can benefit from all nature has to offer. Along my journey I coined the phrase “Bloom Outdoors” which led me down the path to one of my other passions… apparel! ABOUT US Welcome to GL DOCKS Great Lakes Docks & Decks was founded by Wally and Kris Dombrowski in 1986. After spending 20 years in the service industry, the dream began with the simple idea of selling floating docks. Soon we realized there was a unfilled need on the lake for boat lift service, hence we began specializing in custom boat lift installation up to 35,000#. P.S. You’re My Hero is an organization that was born out of a family’s tragedy. In November 2010 our family found ourselves going through the unthinkable, a home invasion, murder, and betrayal. From that point on we were thrown into a completely unknown world including the physical, emotional, and financial obstacles of a crime. We were facing the mountain of all mountains that included our new reality, beginning the healing process, attending, and testifying at hearings, trials, and sentencing, and trying to find our new normal. As a family, we lifted, supported, and carried each other through every step. We were thankful that we had each other and some resources to help support us through. I would like you to know that It is completely overwhelming being a victim; emotionally, physically, and financially. It is a dark place, a world that people don’t want to talk about or hear about, and not a place that anyone wants to be in. It is because of this, I think, we do not do enough for victims. Victims really don’t want to ask for help, it’s hard. We are already in the most vulnerable of places and now we must purposefully be more vulnerable to get assistance, not happening…. It was through this experience that I founded P.S. You’re My Hero… P.S. stands for Paul Skinner, my husband who lost his life in this tragedy. I wanted to find ways to help those, who have been victimized by crime, in the kindest of ways. I relied on my experience and the things that would have been helpful to me in putting together resources and provisions for those affected by crime. WE WANT TO PUT VICTIMS FIRST!! Our Mission We are a non-profit organization focused on advocating for victims of crimes in St. Clair County, Michigan. We work collaboratively with the Victim's Rights Office of St. Clair County. At P.S. You're My Hero, our mission is to help those in need by providing financial assistance to crime victims in a variety of ways such as counseling packages, rent and utility assistance, medical bills or food vouchers while attending court hearings. As hosts, it gives us great joy to meet great people from various locations and offer a welcoming comfortable stay to enjoy both the comfort of our cottage and the various amenities in and around the beautiful town of St. Clair, Michigan, located in the thumb area of Michigan's Mitt bordering the crystal blue St. Clair River. Our 1949 Bungalow is rich in history from its inception and has been in our family for a number of years. The WWII Era Cottage resembles the Workingman’s Foursquare of the proceeding decade but utilized the latest advancements in spatial planning and building materials. The type of home serves as a transitional form bridging the gap between the Bungalow and Cottages of the 1920s to a sprawling Ranch. Our bungalow is a style of house or cottage that is a one-and-a-half-story home with a partial story built into the sloped roof. We no longer needed the home, but really wanted to keep it in the family... so we completely renovated our cottage and decided to turn it into a vacation rental for others to enjoy, keeping the charm and nostalgia of the style home on the outside, while tweaking the layout to incorporate a more spacious floor plan. My husband Don along with our two sons did all the work themselves and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. It's the only Blue House on the top of the hill which inspired us to nickname it "Blueberry Hill". It's the perfect combination of nostalgic cottage charm and modern convenience with all the amenities needed to make our guests feel right at home... perfect for family vacations, holiday stays, seasonal excursions, and weekend getaways. We have been long-time residents of the St. Clair area and we love all the amenities that this quaint little town has to offer... from the picturesque blue waters of the St. Clair River, to the regular passing Freighters, the rich history of the area, unique shopping and eateries, to the historic lighthouses located throughout St. Clair county coastline; we are ecstatic to open the door and share our little piece of the country for others to enjoy and experience. THE COTTAGE With hardwood floors throughout the living area and main floor bedrooms, the comfortable living room has a couch & loveseat, two chairs, an electric fireplace, and a large screen TV. Wireless internet and washer & dryer are also included.
